Hi,Glen
The full title is 'The Singapore and Malayan Directory' nicknamed Buku Merah [the Red Book]. There were also Blue Book Directories and the Malayan Civil List. The 1935 Red Book was the 56th issue so it had been going some time.
The alphabetical list of individuals cross references to companies, rubber estates, government departments etc.
Unfortunately prisons are not specified. In Singapore until 1936 the main prison was Outram Road Prison then the state of the art Changi Prison opened and both were used.
Yes, I co-wrote IN ORIENTE PRIMUS. Sold out now. I continue to update the biographical entries in it including additional names and quite a few corrections! I may do a disc version sometime. In the meantime always happy to take queries on behalf of the Malayan Volunteers Group.
best wishes
Jonathan
