John & Maria (Mary) Kozar & Sibilings

By Kerry McKinstry July 20, 2013 at 08:59:49

Hello,

I have posted on several different spots in hopes that somebody out there may be able to help with some information.

Mostly what I am looking in regards to John is the exact village he was born in. As things changed, the name of where he was from on paper changed as well. Went from Slovkia to Czechoslovakia over time. Czechoslovakia is what is on his death certificate.

John b. July 3, 1874 d. May 4, 1932. He came to America March 21 1895. He never filled out any naturalization papers. He married Maria (Mary) Kalna on May 23, 1899. Maria was born April 24, 1883 d. August 11, 1941. She did fill out naturalization papers. She was born in Chrast nad Hornadom, Hungary. Her mothers name was Maria (Slavkovsky) Kalna. I have found a couple of different first names for the father. One was George.

They had 11 children.

They lived in Youngstown, OH.

If possible, I am also looking for some information on John & Mary's siblings.

Mary had 2 siblings, Katherine & Paul. The last name has been spelle at time Kolna. I recently came across a possible spelling for Katherine when she married as being Annie Kolna. Somebody posted that information to another post in genealogy.com. Not sure where that was found. Katherine was b. November 25, 1876 d. December 30, 1963 she married George Hannis in 1895. I don't know much about Paul. He was born March 9, 1880 d. March 10 1913 and married Catherina Fabian. They all so lived in Youngstown, though Paul & Catherina married in PA.

John's siblings are much more sketchy to me unfortunately. All I know is that their names were most likely Paul & Maria. I honestly don't know when they were born. I would guess they also lived in Youngstown, since the rest of the family did. It is possible they came over with John when he came to America in 1895.

I hope somebody can help and understands what I am saying. I hope I have given enough information.
