The surname is spelled Pochyba in Slovakia today; there are still about 50 people surnamed Pochyba or (for females) Pochybova living in Nova Bystrica today.The word "pochyba" means doubt, uncertainty.

It was a tradition that, when fraternal twins were born one male and one female, they be named Adam and Eva.Not always, but maybe half the time.
