Manifest quesion

On 21 Aug 1906 the vessel Bremen arrived in New York.The manifest is on the Ellis island website.Among the passengers listed are Zuzanna Gonozi and her daughter Maria.I believe this was a "show off the child" trip to Zuzanna's parents in Slovakland, and they were now returning to husband/father Josef in Philadelphia.

The scanned manifest on the Ellis Island website show lines drawn through both Zuzanna's and Maria's names.Does anyone know what these might mean?Did they perhaps purchase tickets and never use them? Or what?On the EI website, I can find no subsequent entry by either of them to the US.
