Re: Anglican Church Records repository
Sylvia and fellow researchers, the Anglican church records are at the Diocesan library in Colombo. A personal visit in 2010 was fruitful in as much as there was an extensive list of marriages and baptisms created by our most prolific researcher of modern times, Mr Sam Mottau, in 1972. This is in the same format as his Dutch records indexes in FamilySearch. I was able to copy by hand from the list and have a few hundred but the indexes run to 500+ pages. Two local assistants were photographing the original church books and putting them on computer whilst I was there but you were not allowed to see the books which were upstairs. The records are from churches all over the Island and I wrote down the alpha name entries for A and B and am willing to do lookups of my records which include early military marriages, and families associated with the Anderson/Toussaint/Kriekenbeek and Campbell lines.
