Wadrus (Âàäðóñ) from Plawie/Plavya
Grandmother is from Lviv, not the city, but the region. She is a Halychanka, from Halychyna/Galicia.
BUT technically Grandmother (1921) was born in Poland.
From the late 18th century to 1919 Halychyna/Galicia was administered by ethnic Poles for the AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN EMPIRE.From 1919-1939 Halychyna fell under Polish domain.Post WW2 it belonged to the Soviet Union until 1991, when Ukraine became independent.
To this day, immigrants frequently refer to their place of origin as the district center town for geographical reference, because their own villages are small. Strij and Skole are both district centers today.
Grandmother was from selo/village Plawie/ PLAVYA.The Greek Catholic Church was located there as well. The filial Roman Catholic Church was in Feliciental.
Grandmother's metrykal records and the records for her siblings are probably in the State Archives in Lviv. I would wait to write the archives after the summer.August is official vacation time in Ukraine and not a lot gets done during the summer. In the interim what you can do is check with the Mormon Library/LDS and order up some older Plavya GC Records which are available on film.
FamilySearch - Family History Centers
The lower numbers are probably pre 1880's and the higher numbers are still queued up to be filmed.
