I asked for some help last month regarding my Great Grandfather David Thomas. I took the advice of the very nice people that were helping me & I ordered a record & got another record from a family member that I just recently found. This is what I have now:
Father: Meyrick Thomas Mother: Mary Ann Thomas (Thomas is her maiden name as well)
I found a marriage record for these two names on FamilySearch.org:
Meyrick born about 1824. Father Thomas Thomas Mary Ann born about 1832. Father Richard Thomas Marriage record for 16 Apr 1855. That is the only record I can find that makes sense with the records I have.
I now have 2 forms of records that show that Meyrick was a tailor. It states that in a record from 1856 (his son's birth records) & a record from 1879 (his son's marriage records).
We know that Meyrick & Mary Ann had 3 children:
David: born 7 May 1856 in Gadlys, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales Catherine: born about 1862 (from what I was given last month) Ann: unknown birth date
I found an 1851 Wales Census for a Meyrig Thomas in Glamorganshire, born about 1822. I also found an 1861 Wales Census for a Meyrig Thomas in Aberdare, born abt 1823. Will anyone please look at these census' & let me know if they shows any family members names & ages? I don't have access to the U.K. census records. I would very much appreciate it. I can't find anything on Meyrick for an 1871 census record. The record I have for David's marriage in 1879 states either his or her father is deceased. It's a possibility that it's Meyrick that is deceased. I found a death record on FreeBMD for a Meyrick Thomas passing in 1864 & 1865. I know that Mary Ann remarries, Thomas Ellis, and she is still the age of having more kids. It's a possibility that in the 1871 census, she would be a Mary Ann Ellis with 3-4 children:
David Thomas Catherine Thomas Ann Thomas Evan Ellis (I don't know when Evan was born)
I know that after Mary Ann married Thomas Ellis, they lived in Nelson, South Wales.
