Hello Pauline,
I found out that my relative was aboard the Sophia about a year and a half to two years ago and I am still researching.
I have two books all about the Sophia and her passengers. One is called, "The Sinking of the Princess Sophia-Taking the North Down with Her" written by Ken Coates & Bill Morrison. The other is called, "The Final Voyage of the Princess Sophia-Did They All Have To Die?" written by Betty O'Keefe and Ian Macdonald. I had to order these through Chapters.
Also try going to www.nickmessinger.co.uk/sophia.html
This site is still under construction but it looks like it will eventually be a goldmine of information. There are also numerous shipwreck sites which mention the Princess Sophia.
I see in one of my books it mentions Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Bell and two infant children were on their way to Seattle. In another book it mentions Edward M. Bell and two children but it doesn't mention Mrs. Bell. Probably an error.
I hope you find some use in this information.I can send you more information as and when I come across it.
I think it is really something to be able to send messages and give info. to family of other Sophia victims.Who knows, maybe our relatives were aquainted.
