Seeking Origins of ELLENDER FORTNER, Wife of Aaron Cornelius, Blount Co., AL
Hello. Was wondering if anyone might possibly know which Fortner line Ellender (Fortner) Cornelius ties into?Ellender is a 3rd great grandmother of mine. This is the little that I know of her so far:It’s believed that she was born about 1790 in NC.In 1808 she married Aaron Amos Cornelius in Jefferson Co., TN.The couple then raised a large family together in Blount Co., Alabama, where she died sometime around 1850.I’m descended through her daughter, Tabitha.Have come across her name variously spelled Elleanor, Eleanor, Elinor, etc.I’ve never been able to find any info regarding her parents for some reason.
I know that there was also a Permelia Ellender Fortner (b.1837), and have wondered if there might be some kind of familial connection.
From looking at the census records, I know that a Pleasant Fortner appears on the 1800 Federal Census for Salisbury, Surry Co., NC, and then on the 1830 Federal Census for Blount Co., AL.This makes me suspect that Ellender may be a daughter of Pleasant, or at least related in some way.If anyone could shed some light on the subject, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
