I have a Goodwin family in Chambers County but I'm not sure it is related.Alexander Goodwin (pronouced Gooden)with wife Elizabeth (maiden name Hendricks) was in the 1860 Chambers Co., AL census, Milltown district.Alexander Goodwin married Elizabeth Hendricks in 1849 in Pike Co., GA and they were living in Pike Co., GA in the 1850 census. They had 4 children: John, Ben, Elizabeth, and Mary.Alexander Goodwin died in 1863.I have not been able to locate this family in the 1870 census.
Alexander's widow, Elizabeth Goodwin, died in 1920 in Cherokee Co., AL.Her Confederate widow's pension application says she was born in 1826 in Monroe Co., GA.F.M. Goodwin of Tallapoosa Co., AL signed her 1899 application as a witness that he knew Alexander Goodwin, etc. That's my only clue to any of Alexander Goodwin's possible brothers or cousins.
