Concord Methodist Church Cemetery
An industrial mall is being built surrounding Concord Cemetery, which is a pioneer cemetery and is in desperate need of help in cleaning it up and fencing it! It is located just west and north of the intersection of Highway 26 (Wasden Road) and Highway 6 (Tyson Road -- which apparently was once the route of the Hayneville to Tyson Railroad, which connected with the railroad to Montgomery at Tyson). A Concord Methodist Church Memorial Association is being organized with an initial meeting scheduled for August 1, 2004, at Tabernacle Methodist Church (a historical site) on the Old Federal Road in Montgomery County, not far from Concord Cemetery. The persons known to be buried there are listed under "Cemeteries" in the Lowndes County Archives site. Anyone who thinks they might have ancestors or their relatives buried there or if you're interested in helping preserve the cemetery, please contact me.
