James Clement Fulks of Honeycomb ..wife Eliza???? (Cochran Cemetery)
James and Eliza are buried in the Cochran Cemetery in Honeycomb Valley..Fulks Point overlooks the valley..James and Eliza had 3 sons: "Joe Ben" Joseph Benjamin, Newton, and my grandfather, James David Fulks..and James Clement was father of Olga Ledbetter Law..James David Fulks bought most of the old homeplace land and more on top of mountain..the old loghouse sat near intersection of Sutton Rd and Simpson Point Rd.. I have not been able to locate a marriage record for James Clement and Eliza ? Fulks..the abstract deeds for the Fulks property (my father bought the old homeplace in 1964) show that Eliza was widowed in 1920.Does anyone know Eliza's maiden name?? or date of marriage???
Also, the first wife of James David Fulks, Della Key and an infant child are buried at Cochran Cemetery..my grandmother, Martha Jane Kirkland (wife of James David) are buried at Old Union..before her death, she told me that little A Frame cedar structures stood over James Clem and Eliza's gravesites..the little cemetery is no longer accessable from the top of the mountain..I haven't been there in a few years..one must now get permission from the land owner, at the end of White Elephant Road..and drive across his pastures/fields half way up to the cemetery..then by walking...This quaint little cemetery needs to be preserved...several gravesites of our early Kirkland,Cochran, Bynum and Anderton folks are marked..iron fence around cemetery..large oak trees.. there are also probably Ledbetter and Whitaker gravesites among the many unmarked gravesites..Has anyone been to this cemetery lately?
