"The Swearengin Community is located at the northeastern end of Gunter Mountain.The community is named for the Searengin family that came from Tennessee to settle in the area.Richard C. Swearengin, his daughter, Eliza, and son Rubin Charles, homesteaded 200 acres as early as 1876."
