Mrs. Davis,
I am thrilled to finally hear from a fellow descendant of Ephraim Simpson.James P. Simpson, whom you are descended from, was in fact Ephraim Simpson's oldest son. He was born in Newton County, Georgia abt. 1830.
Ephraim Simpson was married twice. James was a child from his first marriage along with two daughters: Jane and Sarah. I do not know his first wife's name.
In January of 1838 Ephraim married Martha Wingate in Newton County, Georgia. Their first child William Alexander Simpson(my g-g-grandfather)was born in 1840 in Newton County.
A short time after that Ephraim and his family migrated west to Pickens County, Al.
James P. and William Alexander served together in the Civil War. They both enlisted at Pickensville,Al. on March 28, 1862.They were in 41st Alabama Infantry Co.C.as Privates.
James P. was wounded in the neck at the Battle of Murfreesboro and spent some time in a hospital in Virginia.
How are you descended from James? The above information is all I could find about him. Do you know all of the names of his children? Look forward to hearing from you!
Jay Simpson
