Epidemics in Tallapoosa Co. 1800s

As many of you, I have families in my tree who lost several members, particularly children, within a short few weeks of each other. I've searched online to no avail for local disease outbreaks or on a larger scale, epidemics, occurring in Tallapoosa Co. AL in the 1800s, particularly 1863 in the Eagle Creek area and the Buttston/Dudleyville areas of east Tallapoosa County. Any suggestions of books, websites, persons to call, etc., would be very appreciated.
