Richard,

I had a gentleman who works at the library searching with me.

If you look at the Orphan Court...there is nothing for 1853/1854.

We then went to the following:

Tallapoosa Probate Judge Commissioner's Court Minutes 1835 - 1863, LGM306, R26.

When we went through the microfilm, it was a series of index cards stating such things as: "Inventory & Appraisment Filed, Nov. 8 1853, M.C. Lane, Judge, Minutes of Court 1853-1857, page 148." There were several other index references as well for Amos Coffman's Estate.

There were no records anywhere on this reel....just index cards. The gentleman said I would have to go to the courthouse in Dadeville to see what was on these records.

I was shocked that they hadn't been filmed...but it was a dead end from there.

If you look at the other microfilm listings (this is the same page we were using at the library) there is nothing pertaining to estate records for the time period 1853 to 1854.

I think this would be a good project for the county historical society.

Sherry
