info on school unions in 1936 to 1937's?

I ran across a old composition notebook with a teachers union, or maybe a school union from the year of 1936 to early 1937.
Example of hand written accounts of meetings, members, votes, etc. This was for, it states, Coal City Local No. 291. Starting date of accounts begin with Jan 13, 1936 and last entry being Nov 8th , 1937.
If anyone has any information on these please let me know, as a many of my kin were in this particular union.
