Re: William Taylor,1880 Baxter co,Ark
I haven's had a thing to go by, except for a written notation in a family book compiled in 1937 by Owen Dixon. In this family book he stated that Jane Culp, daughter of Major Thomas Culp and Lavina Jeffery Sams Culp married a man by the name of Bill Taylor. He apparently had no information beyond that as to who their children if any were or a second marriage for Jane .
I have checked the land records for Baxter Co. Arkansas and came up with this:
BAXTER CO., ARK., FEDERAL LAND RECORDS
TAYLORJANEBaxter120N 12W81.98 1860/09/01
I know almost nothing about reading the land records, but to me this appears that this Hampton Taylor's land and Jane Taylor's land are one and the same, do you have a death date for your William Hampton Taylor?Looks like in 1855 the land was in Hampton Taylor's name and by 1860 possibly he has died and the land then is in Jane Taylor's name.Do you have a death date for your Mary Jane Taylor?
As for William C. Brimm's land it appears to be close to the Taylor's land as far as range and township, only difference I can see is the sections.
This still only helps to give me a guess that this is the same William (Bill) Taylor that my Jane Culp was married to, and Jane is the only name I have ever had for her, but her father did have a sister named Mary, so it's possible he named his first daughter Mary Jane??Also my Jane Culp's brother, Daniel also had some land in Baxter County, although not all her siblings ended up in Baxter Co. some settled in Izard, but Baxter was part of Izard at one time I think, so not quite sure that some of them didn't eventually end up in Baxter although they were originally on land in Izard Co.
Not quite sure where to go from here, but looks like we might be talking about the same lady, your Mary Jane Taylor and my Jane Culp Taylor, what do you think????
