Re: Brennecke and Russell families, 1880-1900
Hello again, Sharon,
Here is a little more information on my mother's family history in Arkansas.
I have a copy of my mother's original application for a Social Security card which shows her parents as John Hay and Anna Russell, but that may not be exact. I now have a marriage record from Lawrence county, dated May 26, 1884, which shows a Jonathan Hay, age 30, married to Annie L. Russell, age 18. This is close enough to almost certainly be my mother's parents.
I have also found an 1880 census entry in Lawrence County for J.W. Hay, age 26, wife Paralee, and sons William, age 3, and H.L. Hay, age 1. This could be the previous marriage and older son of her father which my mother remembered. The age 26 of J.W. Hay in 1880 matches the age 30 of Jonathan Hay in the 1884 marriage record, and the son H.L. Hay could be the Harrie Hay found (in jail?) in the 1900 census.
Do you live in Arkansas with access to records there?
