Hi,
Thanks for replying. The 22 is his age, he would have been born about 1838, depending on the month of his birth , and what time of year the census was taken, some times the census are off a year or two.
I would be interested in hearing about your Jefferson Mason, the reason I'm trying to find out who this one's parents were is that I have an ancestor Letty J. Culp who was said to have married a Jeff (Jefferson) Mason, and I haven't been able to find anything definite on her and any children, I think she may have died sometime after 1850, as I found a census, (1850, Izard Co. Arkansas) with a Samuel J. Mason family, with wife named Lavina, possibly Letty was a nickname, children were , Thomas, Alexander, Samuel E. and Letty Jane. By 1860 Samuel J. Mason's wife Lavina is deceased as the census shows he has a new wife, with more children, and his new wife may have been a Johnson, as there are some Johnson children listed. My Letty J's mother was named Lavina, she was a Jeffery.
Thanks,
Sandra
