Hello, I work with The Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society in Huntsville, Arkansas.I looked at some records available here.
W. D. Proctor was listed on the 1843 and 1844 Tax List for Madison County, Arkansas, but is not found on the 1845 list.So it appears he came to Madison County about 1843 and died about 1845.You mentioned that he was killed, do you know how he was killed?
Nancy Proctor, age 46, died of consumption in May 1850, after being ill for 50 days. She is listeed as "married" and was born in Tennessee. (information from 1850 Mortality Schedules) She is buried in the Huntsville Cemetery. In the printed enumeration of the Huntsville Cemetery, Nancy is shown as the mother of Ambrose, John G., Amanda and Eliza Proctor, although I'm not sure what that information is based on.
Nancy's grave is covered with a large coffin shaped stone with her name carved on it.Also nearby in this cemetery is the grave of "Manda Proctor" (1838-1860), and her grave is also covered with a coffin shaped stone.
Next to Manda's grave is the grave of Ambrose M. Proctor, 12 September 1825 - 11 May 1861.His grave is also covered with a coffin shaped stone.
