Susan Nelson
Susan Jane Klukas Nelson, 81, of Mahtomedi, Minn., formerly of Colfax, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, with hospice in Mahtomedi.
Susan was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Chippewa Falls to Herman and Hazel (Longdo) Klukas. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1944. For many years she lived in Foster City, Calif., and of late, in Vadnais Heights and Mahtomedi, Minn. Susan and her husband, Bob Nelson, owned and operated the Northern California Fence Corporation in Redwood City, Calif.
Survivors include her brother, Roger (Mary) Klukas, of Menomonie; sisters, Barbara Peterson of Shoreview, Minn., Mary Lee Klukas of Spencer, Iowa, Jane (John) Kragness of Colfax and Sharon Jefferies of Aspen, Colo., and Indian Wells, Calif.; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Hazel Klukas; her husbands, Chester Goulet and Bob Nelson; and her brother, Robert Klukas. Funeral services for Susan will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Sampson Funeral Home, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, both in Colfax. Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home on Monday.
I found Robert's obit online also. It said that he lived in Foster City but that his business had offices in Burlingame. His ashes were scattered at sea.
I found it interesting that his obit said "His sole survivor was his wife Susan." I wonder if maybe Susan never knew that he had a child. It was a different time back then. If the son had been adopted, then yes, legally, he no longer had a child.
Anyway, I hope this helps a little.
