Pioneer Hotel Man Ends Life
Edgar B. Nelson, of Olema, Gives Up Fight Against Ill-Health
After years of ill health, Edgar B. Nelson, part owner of the Olema Hotel, ended his life on Wednesday afternoon, by shooting himself through the head, using a 38-caliber revolver. He was found by his wife, and other members of the family, slumped on a bench back of the hotel, which the family has operated for many years.
He was 75 years of age, and born at Olema, where his father operated the hotel. He leaves his wife, Valerie Nelson; brother, Walter Nelson, and sister, Lidia Nelson.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Keaton Mortuary, San Rafael, under auspices of Marin Lodge, 191, F.&A.M. of San Rafael of which the deceased was a member.
The body will be taken to Santa Rosa for inurnment at the Chapel of the Chimes. For many years during his early life Mr. Nelson operated a stage line between San Rafael and Olema.
