Looking at your 2003 postings are you looking for
Albertus James Brown b. Aug. 7, 1883 in MS married to Etta May nee Brannan. Married abt 1907, in 1910 census listed as Burt, 1920 census listed as A.Jim, and 1930 census listed as Albert J. living in Meridian, Lauderdale Co. MS. Has WWI draft card filed in Lauderdale county with same name and birth date as above, nearest relative-wife named above. Maiden name of Etta is from bro-in-law Marvin Brannan living in Burt's household 1910 census.
Or are you looking for Jay Albert Brown b. Jan. 29, 1889 in Rains Co. TX married to a Jettie Aukill/Hukell before 1928.
In widower father's household 1900 census (written over can't read first name), in Justice Precinct 1, Rains Co. TX with a brother Frank b. Aug 1883 and sisters Lucy I and Nezzie. Listed as Bart D. b. Jan 1889 age 11 b. TX/father- MS/mother-MS. 1910 also listed as Bart Brown age 21 servant in another household in Van Zandt Co. Can't find family in 1930 census. Two children in TX Birth Index:
Reba Mae b. 1928 mother Jetie Aukill, Oscar W. b. 1931 mother Jettie Hukell, both have J A Brown as father, both born in Rains Co. Has WWI Draft card filed in Van Zandt Co.:
Jay Albert Brown b. Jan 29, 1889 age 28 b. Rains Co. TX has wife and children.
I searched the Califonia Death Index for "Brown" males b. TX or MS b. 1883/1889, died 1955 or 1965 and didn't find any first name matches, Jay, Bart, Albartus, Albert, J. A., Albertus, Burt or Bert. I have not found others in the online indexs that should be so it doesn't mean there isn't one with a death certificate on file with the state.
What about the Jay A. Brown in earlier posts from the CA Death index and Social Security Death index, b. Jan 29, 1896 in TX d. Sept 15. 1969 in Riverside Co. mother's maiden name Lacey? Month and day match WWI draft card and I have seen a birth year be wrong with my own family listings before.
Riverside is one of the largest counties in the state so unless you can at least find a city he was living in then it will be hard to find an obituary. Also he may have died in Riverside County but still lived in Los Angeles County where an obit would appear. My father was vacationing in Desert Hot Springs when he hospitalized and almost died, if he had, his death would have been recorded in Riverside Co. but he would have had his obit and burial in Santa Barbara Co. where he lived.
Good Luck
