I have a few things on Richard Sharkey.I have looked at his Civil War Pension records at the National Archives because one of his daughter's I believe was married to someone I am researching. In the files there is a letter written by his wife stating that they were married in New York City on Jan 20, 1859 and came to California in 1864.It also states that her "husband was a member of John C. Freemont Post, G.A.R".The letter from Mary Ann was dated Jan. 29, 1900.I took photos of some of the records and would be happy to send copies to you.Among the photos is a copy of the marriage certificate where Richard married Mary Ann Barry at R. C. Church of St. Peter, New York.Another said that he was born in Belfast.
I have a Alena (Lena) T. Sharkey who married John Lehan on 7 Oct 1900 in Washoe Co., NV.This is her death notice:Funeral Held for Mrs. Alena T. Lehan - Richmond, July 3. - Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Alena T. Lehan, 62, Richmond resident for 20 years and sister of Senator Will R. Sharkey of Martinez. She died Saturday at a local hospital after a lingering illness.Mrs. Lehan was a native of You Bet, Nevada County, early day mining town. Her home here was at 1605 Chanslor Avenue.Surviving Mrs. Lehan, besides Senator Sharkey, are her husband, John; two other brothers, Albert and Joseph Sharkey of Martinez and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson of Martinez. (Oakland Tribune - 3 July 1933 - Page 19)
• In 1930 siblings Elizabeth Henderson (70 WD), Robert (62 WD), Joseph (58 S) andMary Letly(probably Selby) (68 WD) were living in Martinez, Contra Costa, CA. Elizabeth’s husband was Georg W. Henderson
