MACKINSON or MAKINSON

By Linda Asaro April 23, 2003 at 01:22:46

Am looking for info on my g-g-grandfather.His name was John.He was born 1820.He is listed as a Mackinson as often as I've found him listed as a Makinson.

His parents came from England.I don't know when or where.

He must have been born in Delaware on the Maryland border. He always listed Delaware as place of birth. His children have listed him as from Maryland on their census info.

John ended up in Jackson County, Ohio.He had 4 daughters and 4 sons. The boys were John, James, William & Thomas. They were born in the 1840's & 1850's. I am from Thomas's line. He, too, was listed by either spelling of the last name.My family goes by Makinson, but maybe they dropped the 'c'.[?]

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.I have had so many dead ends over the years.

Thanks for helping.
Linda
