Rafftery (Nooo, not Rafferty!) 1850-1950 roughly
Wondering if anyone spies a John Henry Rafftery (not Rafferty) anywhere around Jacksonville from late 1800s to early 1900s--- or any Rafftery!
In old news clippings, I notice that JHR was living in the Mason Hotel in Jacksonville, probably after being left a widower in 1923.There are no dates on the clippings, but he was married to“my” Jennie Bertha Langley of New Jersey on Nov. 30, 1904 in Millville NJ.She is buried in NJ, but I'd like to know where he is, and if he remarried after 1923 or had any marriage before 1904.
JHR apparently worked quite some time for the “Georgia Southern and Florida Railway,” which may have had an earlier name, or a later one.He had relatives in Hartford (FL?) and maybe Miami. The clippings also mention trips to New York state and Richmond VA for the couple, or later for him as a widower (they appear to have been socialites). At least once, they traveled on Merchants and Marines Steamship Line.Other names mentioned as friends or family are: S. Allen Kyle of Jacksonville (and also of Avondale?); D.A. Morrison; W.L. Lapman; S. H. Richardson.
