Note that the Samuel PURDY buried in Floyd County, IA, has middle initial "C" -- not "L" as indicated in your post.

In 1850 a Carey (Samuel's middle name?) and Fanny PURDY were enumerated in Palmyra, Wayne, Pennsylvania with children Charles and Lucy Whitehead; are you aware of a possible earlier marriage for Fanny?
