Jordan, Harold Wm. & Metcalf, Thelma Marie; born in Iowa

I show that Harold William Jordan married Thelma Marie Metcalf on 14 Feb 1940 in Missouri; however, since they were both born and died in Iowa, it seems strange that they would have been married in Missouri.Hoping someone can give me a correct place of marriage and let me know if the above marriage date is correct.
