Teresa, Can you possibly tell me how your Presley Neville O'Bannon acquired his first two names? Do you know if there is any tie in with these names: Thomas, Porter, Smith, Wiley? My great-grandfather was Presley Neville Thomas. I'm trying to get back past him between 1811 and 1813 in Ky (Ky 1880 census) or IN (1870 census). His parents MAY have been Neville and Sarah (Wiley) Thomas, but then maybe not.
It seems like a possible consideration that my Presley might have received the name down the line. I am not sure who his parents were and am trying to make some connections with families that contain the same name. I would have thought just the name Presley would be unusual enough, but to have both names together---well there might be a possibility.
According to the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index Search page, a Presley N Thomas mar a Jensey Narcissa Smith on 6-28-1837. If this is my Presley, he was old enough to have married again, this time to Isabella Porter abt 1865. This marriage most likely occurred in Missouri. Thanks Sue
