Re: Arvo Maki, Immigrated to U.S. from Finland
Your in a very tough timeframe to find info and especially to have a volunteer be able to help you out.Privacy issues are the biggest obstacle for this time frame.
However.... you are not at a dead end yet.
You, or your grandfather, should be able to obtain copies of his social security APPLICATION, as one as the same for your deceased grandmother.Information on this can be found at the www.ssa.gov
Have you acquired a copy of your grandmother's death certificate?
Also see if you can acquire a copy of their marriage APPLICATION,not certificate. And of course of any naturalization files on yourgrandfather.
I find an Arvo Maki who died in Cook County, IL in 1966..would this be his father or uncle PERHAPS?
He may be the Arvo Alexander Maki I find on a naturalization database that shows a birth date of June 19, 1901 and this "action" was dated in 1942.
Court District: Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa
He also may be the one showing up in the 1930 census in Lake County, IL.
The 1940 census will not be released for a couple more years...
