Since Alexander Co and Union Co adjoin on the northeast and north, Ephraim might have died in either Co.The area, Clear Creek, where John Reams lived, is in this area.
Malissa and John Reams were married in Union Co, according to the IL Marriage Index and since Ephraim was shown in Union Co in 1880, I would think he died there.
This site
http://www.ilsos.gov/GenealogyMWeb/DeathSearchServlethttp://www.ilsos.gov/GenealogyMWeb/DeathSearchServlet
shows the death of some Groves Children which might be grandchildren of Ephrain.Aparently Malissa had been married to a Jaco the children are shown as Jaco.
John Reams first wife was Mary Jane Jaco of Pope Co, IL.
You might check the deaths in the Jonesboro Gazatte http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ilgssi/gazette.htmlhttp://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ilgssi/gazette.html
between 1880-1894.
