Are you referring to the Irma Foss whose mother was Alma Johnson in 1940 census?I believe I have found her obituary.She was born 23 May 1923 in Chicago as Erma Foss and married a Mr Engel in Kansas City in 1942.Doesn't appear that she would be the one.Mr Engel did not die until after Irma/Erma.I can send you a copy of the obit if this is the one you thought might be your mother.
