One strategy you can use is to look at old city directories - - some of them will have a section specific to cemeteries.Others may have notations in the list of churches as to where their cemeteries were.This technique worked for me in another city.Another thing you could try is to do a search through one of the historical newspaper websites, using the year 1854 (plus or minus a few years, to widen the search) and search terms of Blue Island plus cemetery or burial or whatever you feel will get you to some obituaries from that time and place.
