Dennis Robinson, Edwin L Robinson, Ethel Guthrie (nee Robinson)
My great grandfather is Dennis Cauley Robinson. I'm trying to find out who his parents are and if he has any other siblings. On every census I can find his parents are listed as being from Illinois.
Dennis Cauley Robinson
b. June 10 1891 in Farmington, Fulton, IL
d. Feb 23 1973 in Farmington, Fulton IL
Married Annie Elizabeth Whisenand (b. Aug 8 1902 d. Oct 22 1944)
Children: Martha Irene, Saradell, Orpha Jean, Barbara
I know for sure that Dennis had at least one sister:
Ethel Grace Robinson
b. Aug 29 1889 in IL
d. Jan 1 1980 in Fulton, IL
Married Farquhar Guthrie (b. Sep 13 1872; d. June 19 1949 in Fulton, IL)
Children: Ethel, William, Farquhar, Edward
I believe Edwin (below) is Dennis and Ethel's uncle, since Dennis Robinson and Ethel Guthrie are mentioned in his obituary, and Dennis's child Martha (my grandma) is listed as Edwin's "grand niece".
Edwin L. Robinson
b. Dec 1862 in New York
d. Mar 29, 1953 in Galesburg, IL
Married Hattie Frick on July 14 1887 in Kane County, IL
Children: Flossie, Raymond
I suspect Edwin may be the older brother to Dennis and Ethel's father. Perhaps Edwin was born in New York, but he had a younger brother born in Illinois? On his marriage record his parents are listed as Albert Robinson and Mariah Brooks, but I can't find records of them anywhere else.
I'm also interested in:
Walter Robinson
b. Nov? 1885
I know this isn't much info, but I believe this is Ethel and Dennis's older brother. I found an Ethel Robinson also born Aug 1889 living nearby in Mercer County, IL in the 1900 census. She's listed with what appears to be an older brother Walter - and a Walter Robinson I haven't accounted for appeared in Edwin L. Robinson's obituary. The thing is, she and Walter are listed as being adopted by Franklin and Sarah Hood. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MS4L-T2D
I would love to know what's going on with Ethel and Walter being adopted by the Hoods. I'm also not sure if Dennis was adopted by another family, because I can't seem to find him anywhere in the 1900 census.
Thank you so much for whatever help you can give!
