Re: Fanny Mershon m Stephen Colladay
I think that Fannie Mershon and Stephen Colladay married in the East, perhaps in Philadelphia area. Their grandson Stephen Mershon Colladay came to Vermont, Fulton Co, IL in 1856 with his mother after his father Charles Henry Colladay's death. He married Cornelia Hamer Wilkinson there in 1874. His sister M. Louise married Dr. Ellis Passmore Hamer (cousin of Cornelia's mother) in Vermont in 1870; they moved to Lincoln, NE. I'm not sure when and where their brother Frank married but I guess you will know that.
I was told as a child that the Mershons were descended from a general (?) who came to the US to fight with Lafayette. Stephen and Cornelia's son Charlie received a solicitation from a group raising money for a monument to him, I think in the Philadelphia area. This solicitation must have been in the late 1950s.
