June 24, 2012 Events Honoring Thomas Jefferson Clark and Jane Josephine Murdock
On the 180th Anniversary of the BATTLE OF APPLE RIVER FORT, a Black Hawk War hero, THOMAS JEFFERSON CLARK will be honored with a flag raising at the fort. This will be followed by a new tombstone dedication for Clark and his wife Jane Josephine Murdock at Elizabeth Cemetery. The events will be held Sunday, June 24 starting at 10 a.m. at Apple River Fort State Historic Site, Elizabeth, Jo Daviess County, Illinois.
THOMAS JEFFERSON CLARK and JANE JOSEPHINE MURDOCK were married on August 26, 1832 at the Apple River Fort. They were the parents of 10 children: Lewis, Charles, Giles, Jacob, John, Thomas Jefferson, Jr., Clack, twins Esther and Hester, and Ann Clark.
Members of the Clark family will be present to honor their ancestors.
