Could I ask where your source for a England birth for Mary Craig comes from? I have no personal info on this family, but based on census and death records, I find no basis for the claim. 1850 census states she was born KY (first census stating place of birth) and death record of her son also states KY as place of birth of his mother.
Lyn/Lynn/Linn Craig appears on the 1830 Madison Co IL census as age 20-29, is married and has three small children all under the age of 5...1 boy and 2 girls. He next appears on the 1840 Madison Co IL census (age 30 to 39). I am assuming that his next appearance is his death in Montgomery Co IL in 1849 at the age of 41.
I would think one of the first places to begin researching whether or not this is your Lyn/Lynn/Linn Craig would be to look for a probate record in Montgomery Co (then Madison and perhaps Macoupin) and also something in guardianship records as some of the children would likely still be considered 'minors'.
If Mary was born abt 1825 in KY, the marriage record of this Lyn/Lynn/Linn Craig is likely in KY. if you could id the wife of this gentleman, you may be able to see what happened to her after the 1841 death of her husband. Did she remarry? If you believe Lynn was a minister you should also check into old church records in both Madison and Montgomery Co. Most surviving church records usually tell of the ministers assigned to church and dates of assignment, some give first memebers of church ect.
