Re: Obituary Needed Gosnell
I don't have access to an obituary, but the Morgan County Genealogy site:
has posted the cemetery listings, including East Waverly Cem, along with the following information:
Claude Gosnell died 1 January 1956, son of Joseph and Catherine.
There are 2 other Gosnells buried in East Waverly:
Letha (Ford) Gosnell 1879-Mar 1960, wife of William
William Joseph Gosnell 8 Sep 1874-21 June 1927
The IL Index to Deaths and Stillbirths 1916-1947 online at Ancestry.com gives the following information for William J Gosnell:
name William Jasper Gosnell, born 8 Sept 1874 in Kentucky, died 21 June 1927 in Palmer, Christian County, IL, length of residence there 2 months 25 days.
name of father Joseph Gosnell, born Kentucky
name of mother Catherine Rhure, born Tennessee
name of spouse Leth Gosnell
The index doesn't say who provided the information, but his death certificate would. You should be able to request a copy from the Christian County Courthouse.
I would question whether Claude is the son of Joseph and Catherine or the son of William J. and Letha. The 1920 census for Allen County, KY shows William and "Left" Gosnell with a 13 year old son named Claude.
The 1930 census shows Claude Gosnell, age 23 (born KY) living in Pekin, Tazewell County, IL with his brother-in-law Chester Brooks age 31, Chester's wife Anna Brooks, age 30 (presumably Claude's sister) and their daughters Clorina age 13 and Alina age 8 and son William H., age 7, Anna and all the children born in Kentucky, Chester born in TN.
Leth Gosnell was also in Pekin, Tazewell Co, IL in 1930, living with Fred and Flora Alma Bailey, both age 26born KY and their children Fred Jr age 3 and Ines Gene (daughter) age 9/12, both children born in IL.
Hope this helps instead of adding more confusion!
