Re: RIDDLES OF TAZEWELL COUNTY
Brenda, I am so very grateful to you for all of the information you forwarded.I truly appreciate all of your efforts to help me.Besides having these obituaries for my family, loaded with information, I now have new clues for some family I have not been able to locate.Since these are members of my grandfather's immediate family, I would love to have you scan the obits and send them to me if you are willing to.My grandfather was Clarence Riddle who left Minier about 1912 and settled in California, where I live.
The obit for Anna Riddle is not the one I was looking for, but she is probably related (probably all Riddles in Tazewell are related). She was married to Charles, who is in my Riddle line, so I'm happy to have it.
Lena Anna Riddle on my posting I now know married Daniel James Bowles.I believe he died in Minier Feb. 7, 1946.I believe Anna died Dec. 26, 1945 in McLean Co., IL.They are both buried in the Minier Cemetery. You may or may not have obits for them in Tazewell.
Peter Hitt on my posting was married to my grandfather's oldest sister, Emma Riddle Hitt.I believe Peter died Feb. 9, 1926 in Minier and Emma sometime after 1946 (haven't been able to find a death record or burial information for her and was hoping an obit for Peter might give a clue). I believe Emma died sometime after 1946.
Mabel Aynes Riddle on my posting was married to John Willis Riddle. She died March 28, 1977 and is buried with her husband in the Minier Cemetery.she must have died somewhere besides Tazewell since there is no obit for her.
I believe my earliest Riddle relative from Virginia to Tazewell was James B. Riddle, born 1832 Virginia, died Oct. 31, 1909 in Tazewell.Census records indicate he was a Constable in Tazewell.I wonder if there is an obit or other information about him.His father, James Riddle, born Virginia 1793, died in Illinois Jan. 6, 1879, but I don't know where in Illinois (could be Tazewell). There is a James Riddle tombstone in the Minier Cemetery, with illegible information, so it could be his.
Brenda, thank you so much for all of your tremendous help. You are truly a wonderful person!!!I am happy to pay for any costs associated with your research, copies, etc., if you will let me know. If you want to e-mail directly, you can reach me at Jriddlecal@att.net.
