It is a mess trying to figure them out. My parents lived in Danville, Il and went to Lafayette, In to get married! Go figure! My in-laws lived in Chicago and went to Lake Co, In because it was easy to get married there. It was what they call a "marriage mill"
I haven't found a single diary among my ancestors either. Oh those lucky people who do!
I am going to Danville next week and I will see if I can learn why people went there to marry. If I do, I will let you know!
