Any info or leads really wanted and appreciated. TRhank you all This is a copy of what i know (kindly sent to me today from the USA)
Kath, I did find a ship's record for someone who is probably your Arthur Busby.I'm attaching a PDF.It's Arthur D. Busby, age 17 arriving in New York on the ship Lucania on 4 April 1896.His destination is really hard to read, but I think it says Ohio. The only city in Ohio that I can think of that has an ending like that city name is Ashtabula, but I find no indication of him there in 1900 census or later.
I did find one person in the 1910 census that seems to fit. 1910 Prophetstown, Whiteside County, Illinois Busby, Arthur 30 b. Eng father b. Eng mother b. Eng married 3 yrs immig 1897 works as laborer Busby, Jennie, wife 25 b. Vermont father b. Vermont mother b. Vermont; mother of one child, with one living child Anise/Anice daughter, 1 b. Illinois father b. Eng mother b. Vermont Wood, Anna mother 63 b. Vermont father b. Vermont mother b. Vermont
Checked the 1900 and 1920 & 30 censuses and can't find Arthur anywhere, found Jennie & Anna Wood in 1900 1900 Prophetstown, Whiteside County, Ill Sundberg, Carl 23 SWEDEN SWE SWE Wood, Anna 53 b. Oct 1846 Widowed, mother of 4 children, 4 living,Vermont VT VT, servant Wood, Jennie 15 b. Oct 1884 VT VT VT
On Genforum, go to United States, Illinois, and in the top right corner is "counties", go to Whiteside, and try posting a query for Arthur Busby & Jennie Wood & mother Anna.Include the 1910 census info.Maybe someone can find a marriage record or death records or something that would help prove your Arthur or show what happened to him. There just isn't much available on the internet yet for these late dates.Good luck.
