Re: Frank Bitner 1829 Barvaria, Germany
Okay...here goes. While I find nothing for a "Frank Bitner" in Ohio in 1850, I do find an entry for a "Frank Betner" in Boone, KY. (another site shows him as Frank Belner on this census index)
Boone Co is located in North KY, and when I check out maps, Lawrence Co, Ohio is in southern Ohio. Both are border counties, and both share one main border feature..The Ohio River. For that time frame, river travel was frequently used by folks to get from one place to another and was in many ways quicker and easier than going across land.So it would be quite probable that someone from Boone Co KY could meet up with someone from Lawrence County, Ohio, and make trips back and forth for visitation, etc..
Being that most brides married in their hometown, it would also explain as to why their marriage took place there. When I checked out others with the Bitner surname that married in Ohio during this time frame, Hamilton county OH showed up numerous times and Hamilton is just across the river from Boone County, KY.So maybe some of the Bitners there may be related to yours????
Also, I do not find him residing in KY in 1860.
In 1850 this fellow is shown as being 22, laborer, born in Germany, residing in household of Nich Cafler (32, Laborer, born in Germany) and his family also residing there, all born Germany, Adam Reller?Keller? 18 and George Conds/Conde? 87.The family of Frederick Conde? is the previous entry. His family too all born Germany, except youngest who is 5 mos old.
Maybe this will be a clue to help you locate your Frank...
