I don’t know if you’ve found this in the intervening years Indiana, Marriage Collection, 1800-1941about Philbert Wright, Jr about Philbert Wright, Jr Name: Philbert Wright, Jr Spouse Name: Margaret J Wayman Marriage Date: 18 Oct 1865
Source Citation: Greene Co Indiana; Index to Marriage Record 1821 - 1920 [Lacking 1828, W. P. A.; Book: G; Page: 504.
I am a Wright descendant and have collected a ‘fair amount’ of information on the Richard Wright, Sr. family [b. Maryland; d. NC]In the past few years, much information has come about regarding this Wright line – especially DNA evidence.
You are ‘spot on’ about your Philbert, Jr. – being the grandson of Nancy & Philbert Wright.He was the son of Joseph A. Wright & Catherine Bougher.They had [based on census records] the following children: Philbert *Filbert* Wright1845 – 1911 David Wright1846 – 1924 John Robert Wright1848 – 1905 Elijah C Wright1854 – Wilborn Wright1863 – Nancy E. Wright1864 – Mary H. Wright1866 – Lilly M. Wright1868 – Pleasant Wright1876 –
According to Philbert Wright 1768’s will, he had 4 sons and 8 daughters based on legal documents [his will].There was not a Philbert among them.It is this Philbert Wright [b. 1768] who married Mary Sears who was the youngest of 8 sons of Richard Wright, Sr. and wife, Ann – whose surname is still unknown [They had no daughters].
I believe the father of Philbert Wright who was b. abt 1800 in NC [and husband of Nancy] is most likely Rev. Richard Wright of Greene County, whose father was Benjamin Wright, Sr.Our shared ancestor is Richard Wright, Sr., and then my ancestor, Richard Wright, Jr.]I think this Philbert buried in the same family cemetery as Rev. Wright and many of his other family members because he was family.
It's only part of the reasoning - this Philbert was the only one of the era to stay [with his family] in Greene County. Other legal connections have been made as well.
The name ‘Philbert’ long been associated - has only been found -with this particular Wright family – stemming back to 1700’s Maryland to the ‘original’ Philbert Wright & Esther Becraft of Maryland.Again, by DNA evidence.
If I can be of any help, would be more than glad to share my info.
