Re: 1850 census lookup

From 1735 to 1757 the Stafford County VA family of Joseph and Elizabeth Cooper had 9 sons, two of whom died as children. They were Thomas (b.1748, d. 1749) and Vincent (b. 1751, d. 1752). As was common in those times Joseph and Elizabeth had two more sons whom they named Thomas (b.1756) and Vincent (b.1757). My wife's Cooper line descended from this family and I am trying to identify each and see if they fit. As you mentioned, families frequently named sons and nephews and grandchildren with the same names, and it sure confuses researchers. Thanks for the message.
