Miller Hedges Coombs Vincent Riot 1829

Apparently Josiah Hedges had sons named William and David who, along with my 3g grandfather Horatio Nelson Miller and perhaps also joined by a David Coombs, found nothing better to do on Sept 10 1829 than to go to the home of their neighbors Charles and Barbary Vincent, and "with force and arms....with guns, clubs, and other offensive weapon...unlawfully riotsly and unholy did assemble together to disturb the peace of the State of Indiana, and being so assembled and gathered together, armed as last aforesaid, did then and there unlawfully ????ly and routsly? make a great noise riot and disturbance, and did then and there awaken the wife of the said Charles Vincen; and being so assembled and armed as aforesaid, did then and there unlawfully riotsly and routsly, make a great noise riot and disturbance and did then and there continue armed as aforesaid, making such noise riot and disturbance, for the space of an half an hour then next following, to the great disturbance of the said Charles Vincen, then and there being contrary to the form of the statute in such case made and provided, and against the peace and dignity of the State of Indiana." (Warrick Co Court records, recorded Sept. 1830)

One other detail:James Hedges helped Nelson post bond.

Can anyone confirm whether William and David Hedges are sons of Josiah, and what the relationship is to James Hedges?

The Millers may have been related to the Hedges in some way, since they were supposed to have followed a similar migration path through what is now West Virginia.Nelson would himself have been in his late twenties at the time of the incident. It has occurred to me that this might have been some sort of shivaree, but I haven't found a marriage record for any of the folks in this case.

Trial was set for the third Monday in March 1832. In other court records, Nelson asked to delay the trial until John Bates could return from a trip down the Ohio River, and Hannah Thurman and Jacob Severs were also subpoenaed, apparently to help make the state's case.I don't know whether Nelson's application for delay was made the previous year, or whether it was made around March 1832, but it seems likely that the trial took place around march 1832.

I would also love to have more information about the results of this trial if anyone has it, as well as information about any of the individuals involved.I have a lot of information now about many of the families in this county, and would likewise like to share it.
