JAMES M. CROSS
I have a J. M. Cross b. about 1822 who was found in the 1850 census in District #2 in Paducah,McCracken Co., Kentucky on Aug. 24, 1850. He was 29 years old and was shown born in Kentucky. His wife was Mary, 23 years old and born in North Carolina. Children: Sarah J.,5, Wm H. 3, Joshua A. 8 months all born in Kentucky.
They were found in the next census in 1860 in the same area. J. M. was listed as James M. Cross at 38 years old and shown as born in Illinois married to Mary who was 32 years old born in North Carolina. Children: Sarah J. 15, Wm H. 13, James W(or M.)7, George W. 5,& Victoria E. 10 months. Children were all born in Kentucky. Joshua must have died young.
Next door to James in 1860 was Joshua Cross, 63 & wife, Rachel, 60 & a daughter, Lucretia, 40.
Also in the same District in 1850 was John D. Cross 29 years old married to Sarah, 28. John was born in Kentucky. Children: James, 8, William 6, Hiram 4, Joseph 1. Children were also born in Kentucky. I believe John D. Cross was buried in AR and so was his son, Hiram.
In District #1 Paducah, McCracken Co., KY Census 1860 there was a Davidson family who had two Cross children living with them. They were William Cross, 12 & Eliza 2. These children were born in Kentucky. They were not found with this Davidson family in 1870. Who were these children and where did they go?
Any information about these families would be appreciated.
