Some of this information might be useful to you: Ballymena Genealogy – a Primer
The following is a list of pointers to Forum members seeking information about Ballymena (and other County Antrim relatives)
1. The important neglected variable about an ancestor is usually his/her religion asbirth/marriage/death data is not provided in the Civil Registration files prior to 1864. Non-Catholic marriages are registered from 1845 and before these dates virtually the only direct sources of family information are local parish registers. You will need to know the person’s religion to delve into the appropriate pre 1845/64 Church records.
2.The Ulster Historical Foundation Report on John Nicholl (C of I) born in Ballymena on 26 September 1826 http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nicholl/reports-john-nicholl.htmhttp://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nicholl/reports-john-nicholl.htm will provide you with a 16 page model which can be used to search out details of your Ballymena relatives.
3. Griffiths Valuation for the Union of Ballymena £7.95 is available from Ballymena Museum: Bookshop at (7) below – worth every penny as it covers a lot of County Antrim.

It also holds many records of estates and has microfilm copies of most Roman Catholic parish registers.
