Thanks Marlyn!! Re: Alex and Delpha Martin (It's Jan by the way, Subscription mix-up...)
That was interesting! You did very well!!!
I had the 1900 and the 1910 census' but no farther. This divorce makes sense as Alex and Delpha were living separately on the same land. My dad said she was believed to have T.B. and that was the reason. She was also known to smoke a pipe.(my own connection) Her obit referred to her as "Mrs A. Martin" it sounds as if a few people were in denyal.... but they didn't say if he preceeded or suceeded her.
I will check on the divorce. I had checked Rockwell City where most are buried, for certificates years ago but no luck on death certificates. I do have a wedding cert for my grandmother and a death certificate on her father but they only say Kentucky referring to (Robert Lee Martin's) birthplace.
Good sluething on the Middle name. Delpha Jane though, not Julia.. Alexander was almost always referred to as Alex in my research and I don't know of a middle name.
Thank you for all your hard work...You gave me some good info. Jan
