Shirley,
i didn't find the two people you were looking for. I did a bit of research and my guess is that they were married in Arkansas. Perhaps in Searcy Co.
Martha's father, John was enumerated on the 1830 census in Graves Co., Ky. There were no Wards listed there at that time. On the 1840 census, John is living in Searcy co. as well as Claburn and Martha. They have one male child under the age of 5 living with them. so, my guess is that they married between 1835-39.
Someone on Ancestry.com said that John cargile moved to Graves Co., Ky about 1830. From where I'm not sure. He then moved to Arkansas Territory about 1837, Johnson Co., AR about 1838 and then to Searcy Co. about 1839.
On the 1850 and 1860 census Claiborn/Claburn Ward says he was born in Tenn. There is no indication that he was ever in KY.
Anyhow, I would start looking in Arkansas. Either Johnson Co. or Searcy Co. I would suggest that you write to the county courthouses in both those counties and ask if they have a marriage record for Claburn and Martha. Be sure to include a SASE so they can respond easily.
Marilyn
